This program uses Central Vietnam’s strongest combination of airport access, heritage and community participation. Students experience Hoi An and Hue as living places, not only preserved monuments, while a day in Triêm Tây introduces local priorities and a practical student role. The route can support an IB CAS experience, Cambridge Global Perspectives, Geography or Travel & Tourism without turning the whole journey into a classroom.
The itinerary stays compact. Da Nang functions mainly as the air gateway or a selected coastal/urban context; Hoi An, Triêm Tây and Hue carry the main program content.

The question guides selected field tasks and reflection. It does not turn every activity into a lesson or remove the enjoyment of travel.
How the program may run
The sequence is indicative. Scivi adjusts it around flight times, age, weather, local capacity, school priorities and what can be responsibly confirmed.
Arrival in Da Nang and transfer to Hoi An
Group welcome, hotel check-in, practical briefing and a light Hoi An orientation or riverside walk.
Hoi An: heritage, commerce and everyday life
A heritage walk combined with food, craft, cycling or a locally based activity. Students compare resident space, visitor space and commercial use.
Triêm Tây community-service day
Community briefing followed by a host-defined, age-appropriate task. The day includes context, work alongside local people where feasible, and reflection on what a short-term group can and cannot contribute.
Hai Van route and Hue
Travel to Hue with selected landscape context. Visit the Imperial City and a living-heritage setting such as a garden house, religious site, craft or local cultural space.
Closing comparison and departure
Short final synthesis and airport transfer from Hue or Da Nang, depending on the confirmed flight pattern.
Students explore, take part and bring something usable back to school.
What students actually do
- Observe how buildings and public space in Hoi An serve residents, businesses and visitors
- Join one community task defined by the Triêm Tây host rather than a generic volunteering activity
- Compare monumental heritage in Hue with living heritage in Hoi An and the village context
- Record one useful contribution and one limitation of a five-day program
Possible student output
A short “responsible school group” charter or continuation note: what the group did, what the host prioritised, what should not be overclaimed and how a future cohort could act more responsibly.
The school decides whether the output is assessed, informal or used only for reflection.
Use the curriculum layer only when the school needs it.
Heritage, Geography, Global Perspectives and service connections can be selected according to the school’s purpose.
What remains subject to confirmation
Triêm Tây activities are subject to current community needs, permissions, weather and a confirmed student role. The program does not promise a fixed construction or environmental output before local scoping. Final airport and hotel arrangement depends on flight schedules.
