Sample school program · 6 days / 5 nights

6-Day Hanoi & Da Bac Village Program

Hanoi history and city life followed by two nights with a Dao Tien community in Da Bac, Hoa Binh.

This program deliberately drops Ninh Binh and gives Da Bac enough time to matter. Students first encounter Hanoi’s history and contemporary city life, then spend two nights in a Dao Tien village with shared accommodation, community activities, traditional crafts and guided cultural exchange. The program can support an IB CAS experience, AP Human Geography or Cambridge Global Perspectives through rural change, cultural continuity, practical participation and reflection.

The village portion is simple and participatory rather than hotel-based. Community work remains light to moderate and is selected according to actual local needs, safety, permissions and the time available.

Learning spine

One question holds the trip together.

How does a rural community preserve cultural identity while adapting to economic and social change?

The question guides selected field tasks and reflection. It does not turn every activity into a lesson or remove the enjoyment of travel.

Sample flow

How the program may run

The sequence is indicative. Scivi adjusts it around flight times, age, weather, local capacity, school priorities and what can be responsibly confirmed.

Day 1

Arrival and Hanoi orientation

Hotel check-in, city briefing and a light Old Quarter or public-space introduction.

Day 2

Hanoi: history, culture and contemporary life

Selected historical, educational and neighbourhood activities create the urban comparison for the program.

Day 3

Transfer to Da Bac and enter village life

Travel by private coach, community welcome, shared-accommodation briefing, local lunch, village orientation and initial craft or practical activity.

Day 4

Community work and Dao Tien culture

Rotate through a feasible host-defined work activity and cultural workshops such as beeswax painting, indigo dyeing, Dó paper or other locally available practices. Evening exchange where appropriate.

Day 5

Village walk, local knowledge and return to Hanoi

Guided walk, exchange with local artisans or elders, final meal and return to the Hanoi hotel.

Day 6

Closing reflection and departure

Students connect city and village evidence before airport transfer.

Student experience

Students explore, take part and bring something usable back to school.

What students actually do

  • Learn shared-living expectations and contribute to simple daily routines
  • Join a light community activity selected with local hosts
  • Learn a craft through the people who practise it, not as a generic workshop
  • Compare cultural continuity, livelihoods and youth opportunity between Hanoi and Da Bac

Possible student output

A continuation note for the school or next cohort: what the community shared, what the group contributed, what remains unfinished and what a future visit should approach differently.

The school decides whether the output is assessed, informal or used only for reflection.

Academic & field learning

Use the curriculum layer only when the school needs it.

The village stay can support CAS, Global Perspectives and human-geography questions when the school wants a structured learning layer.

Feasibility and honesty

What remains subject to confirmation

Village stay conditions may include individual mattresses, shared sleeping spaces and basic facilities. Final allocation depends on group size, gender mix and house capacity. Toilets, homes, roads, water systems or other large works require separate scoping and are not included as fixed deliverables.

Would this structure fit your school calendar?

Share the student age, approximate dates, flight market, group size and the curriculum or service direction that matters most. Scivi can first test route and local feasibility before building a detailed proposal.
