This immersive version adds what a short city program cannot provide: two nights living in a rural Mekong setting. Students move from Ho Chi Minh City’s density and rapid change into a community where food, water, farming and livelihoods are directly visible. It provides a particularly strong setting for IB Geography or ESS, AP Human Geography or Environmental Science, and Cambridge Geography or Environmental Management.
The village stay is not a brief visit. Students share simple accommodation, meals, local routines and practical activities. The reference base is Tra Vinh; the final host location, rooming and field components are confirmed according to season, group size, safety and local capacity.

How the program may run
The sequence is indicative. Scivi adjusts it around flight times, age, weather, local capacity, school priorities and what can be responsibly confirmed.
Arrival and Ho Chi Minh City orientation
Hotel check-in, group briefing and guided city exploration.
Urban history, food and everyday systems
Selected history, market, neighbourhood or food-system activities provide the city lens before the group moves south.
Travel to the Mekong and enter the village setting
Transfer to Tra Vinh or the confirmed Mekong community base, host orientation, accommodation briefing, local walk and shared meal.
Full village field day
Market, farming, rice or shrimp-rice livelihoods, local craft, boat/cycling or a host-defined practical task. Activities depend on season, weather and local operations.
Local exchange and return to Ho Chi Minh City
Complete the field activity, meet local hosts or artisans, reflect on city–delta differences and return to the city hotel.
Synthesis and departure
Short comparison task and airport transfer.
Students explore, take part and bring something usable back to school.

Possible student output
A City–Delta comparison map covering livelihoods, food and water, mobility, environmental pressure, community support and the limits of a short field visit.
The school decides whether the output is assessed, informal or used only for reflection.
Use the curriculum layer only when the school needs it.
The city–delta contrast supports Geography, ESS and AP environmental or human-geography work without making every day an assessed field exercise.
What remains subject to confirmation
Village accommodation may involve individual mattresses, shared rooms and simple facilities. Cycling, boats, farming and water-based activities depend on weather, water level and student readiness. Specific service outputs are not promised unless separately scoped with a community partner.
